The Morgan Autism Center faculty and service providers were ahead of the curve even before the shelter in place order was issued. We saw that school closures were inevitable and worked hard to implement an online strategy that includes a mix of activities: live Zoom sessions, Google Classroom, check-ins and live 1:1 work. Teachers and staff have had to re-imagine every aspect of programming to make learning accessible in this very difficult situation.

The results have been dramatic. Though there is no substitute for the on-campus programming we provide, our students and clients have repeatedly risen to the occasion, participating in and enjoying the offerings on hand. An added bonus? Parents are getting into it too! We are so pleased to see our parents in our live sessions, getting to know other students and clients and witnessing firsthand the kindness and caring that define the Morgan Autism Center philosophy.

Unfortunately, due to the shelter in place directive, we have had to cancel our Starry Starry Night fundraiser this year. We are sad to see this event canceled as it is so meaningful for us to showcase our students and their achievements as well as celebrate the amazing work our staff does.  But, there are still ways to support Morgan Autism Center even in these difficult times. On May 5th, we will be participating in a special Giving Tuesday event. Your support is critical to us and we hope you will consider supporting Morgan Autism Center during this challenging time.

Best wishes as we navigate the rough waters ahead. Thank you for supporting Morgan Autism Center.

Parent Testimony

"Kolya is in his second week of learning remotely with staff from the adult program at Morgan Autism Center. He is doing super well, very focused and I am impressed with what the staff has been doing to keep their clients involved. They have created lessons on social skills, science, literature, music, art, and daily yoga. They have had a tour of their classroom being empty as everyone has to shelter in place. One staff even made a lesson on giving a dog a bath. They have snack time and lunch together, yet by themselves. I could go on and on with many of the things he has done remotely but I won’t bore you with that. It has been fun to see the staff working from their own homes. Some even have their own children climbing on their shoulders and Kolya gets a good laugh out of that but the lesson continues to happen. Thank you MAC staff for providing continuing education during this difficult time." - Marian Aiken, Morgan Autism Center Parent
